American hospitals are receiving high praise in recent reports, being recognized among the best in the world.
A New York hospital has achieved a notable ranking among the top 10 in the United States, as detailed in the latest study.
The report, titled World’s Best Hospitals 2025, was produced by Newsweek in collaboration with global data platform Statista.
This comprehensive study encompasses more than 2,400 hospitals across 30 different countries.
In addition to country-specific rankings, Newsweek has included a Global Top 250 list that aggregates the top hospitals from these nations.
Leading the charge in the rankings are the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota and the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, recognized as the top two hospitals globally.
Also making the prestigious global Top 10 are Johns Hopkins Hospital in Maryland and Massachusetts General Hospital.

Furthermore, New York-Presbyterian Hospital-Columbia and Cornell in Manhattan ranked 77th in the world, while NYU Langone Hospitals – Tisch Hospital, also in Manhattan, secured the 93rd position worldwide.
The ranking methodology relies on peer recommendations collected from a survey involving over 85,000 medical experts.
Additionally, patient experience data and quality metrics are crucial components of the evaluation.
Statista’s Patient-Reported Outcome Measures survey also plays a role, assessing how effectively hospitals implement patient feedback regarding their care quality.
“We have a long-term plan that we want to follow the trends that are going on in health care, not only nationally, but also internationally,” remarked Lukas Kwietniewski from Statista in an interview with Newsweek.
He noted a significant shift toward patient-centered care, an ongoing trend for at least a decade, which leading hospitals aim to deliver more effectively.
The United States boasts 430 hospitals included in the rankings, exceeding any other country.
California led the pack with the most hospitals listed, featuring 41 facilities, followed by Texas with 29, Pennsylvania with 26, Illinois with 21, and both Ohio and Florida with 20 each.
Many of the top hospitals in these states are affiliated with major universities or part of extensive hospital systems.

The majority of these hospitals are classified as non-federal, short-term general hospitals or community hospitals, including both non-profit and for-profit organizations, as well as state and local government facilities.
According to Statista, the hospital quality assessment for the U.S. rankings utilized the Medicare “Hospital Compare” dataset produced by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services.
Key measures assessed included mortality rates, safety of care, readmission rates, patient experience, and the timeliness and effectiveness of care delivered.
Patient satisfaction scores are derived from Medicare’s Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems survey, conducted as recently as October 2024.
