As April 20 approaches, cannabis enthusiasts are gearing up for one of the highest holidays of the year with the return of the Mile High 420 Festival in Denver. This vibrant event will take place at Civic Center Park on Sunday, April 20, from 2 to 9 p.m., featuring a stellar lineup of live music, food trucks, and special appearances. This year, attendees can look forward to performances from hip hop artists Cordae and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, alongside cannabis icon Tommy Chong.
However, festival-goers should note that the event will have an entry fee for the first time in its history – $25 for general admission. This move comes as a surprise to many, as the festival typically offers free admission for those ages 21 and up. Tickets for VIP access are also available for $175, and can be purchased at milehigh420fest.com.
In addition to the Mile High 420 Festival, families can look forward to the annual Easter Egg Hunt at Four Mile Historic Park taking place on Saturday, April 19. With 20,000 eggs hidden around the 12-acre park, the event is bound to delight children of all ages. The Family Egg Hunt is divided into two sessions, running from 8:30 a.m. to noon, and 1:30 to 5 p.m. Family-friendly activities include age-specific zones, mimosas and Bloody Marys for parents, a spring marketplace with local vendors and artisans, and a chance to take photos with the Easter Bunny.
Adults and children can join in the fun for $23, while kids under two get in for free, which also includes general park admission. A printed photo with the Easter Bunny is available for an extra $10. More details can be found at fourmilepark.org.
Those who prefer to celebrate 420 with a drink can head to Oskar Blues Brewery for the third annual Dank Grass Fest, also on Saturday, April 19. This festival combines a passion for bluegrass music with craft beer, featuring a lineup headlined by Travis Book & Friends, a supergroup with members from The Infamous Stringdusters and Jon Stickley Trio. Attendees can indulge in a selection of IPAs and explore Shakedown Street, where local artists, vendors, and cannabis industry friends will set up booths. The event is free to attend, running from noon to 8 p.m. at Oskar Blues Brewery, located at 1640 S. Sunset St. in Longmont. More information can be found at oskarblues.com/events.
Finally, for those looking for some outdoor fun, the closing parties at local ski resorts offer a chance to enjoy the final days of the ski season. Throughout the 420 weekend, four ski resorts will host unique closing day celebrations. Snowmass will kick off with DJ dance parties and hot tubs on Saturday, April 19, although the mountain will remain open through Sunday. On April 20, Aspen Mountain will invite skiers to enjoy beats and bubbly, Eldora ski resort will host a pond skim, and Steamboat Ski Resort will feature friendly competitions including races and a rail jam.
Costumes are highly encouraged at all end-of-season parties, and admission requires a lift ticket. For more details on closing day activities, visitors can check the respective resort websites.
As the Mile High City welcomes various events this week, the community comes together to celebrate in a multitude of ways, from music and family-friendly activities to outdoor adventures.
