Las Vegas Sands Contributes $100,000 to 100 Black Men Las Vegas for Youth Programs

LAS VEGAS, April 17, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Las Vegas Sands (NYSE: LVS) has announced a contribution of $100,000 through its Sands Cares global community engagement program to support 100 Black Men Las Vegas, an organization dedicated to youth mentorship, scholarship, and community service programs.

The donation will facilitate the introduction of new initiatives, including a science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) initiative, the Pathways to Public Service program aimed at developing future law enforcement and first responder professionals, and Realtist Academy, which prepares aspiring participants to become licensed real estate agents or mortgage brokers.

Additionally, the funding will assist 100 Black Men Las Vegas in their pursuit of securing a permanent location for their operations.

“Sands has always understood our overall goal across all of our offerings, which work together to empower our youth and community members to be healthy, self-sufficient, and successful,” stated Gentry Richardson, executive director of 100 Black Men Las Vegas.

Richardson emphasized that Sands’ support has significantly expanded the reach of their programs over the past four years and noted that the 2025 contribution will facilitate the growth of existing programs while introducing new initiatives aimed at increasing positive community impact.

The Sands Cares contribution continues to support 100 Black Men Las Vegas’ youth leadership development programs, particularly the flagship Crossroads youth mentoring and life skills program, designed for middle and high school students.

The Crossroads program emphasizes over 30 essential social and emotional skills, empowering participants to engage successfully in their education, professions, and community activities.

In 2024, mentoring programs were able to serve more than 1,500 students in the Las Vegas area, helping these students achieve a remarkable cumulative grade point average increase of 20% over the previous year.

Furthermore, Sands’ donation also contributes to scholarships for local college students.

Last year alone, Sands Cares funding bolstered a scholarship pool that enabled 100 Black Men Las Vegas to distribute over $80,000 in scholarships, and the organization has ambitions to distribute $100,000 in scholarships in 2025.

Beyond scholarships, Sands Cares funding supports various community service programs as well, including a free monthly Virtual Youth Cooking Class and “Thanksgiving with the 100 and Friends,” the organization’s annual Thanksgiving dinner distribution event.

Founded in 1999, 100 Black Men Las Vegas acts as a local affiliate of a national organization dedicated to enhancing the quality of life and educational opportunities for Black youths and their families through collaborative and practical methods.

Their programs reach from the elementary level and extend into adulthood, providing Southern Nevada youths with various initiatives encompassing mentorship, education, health and wellness, economic empowerment, and leadership development.

Ron Reese, senior vice president of global communications and corporate affairs for Sands, remarked, “As a leading community service organization in the Black community and Southern Nevada, 100 Black Men Las Vegas continues to demonstrate tremendous results in preparing and advancing young people to achieve their goals.”

Reese also acknowledged that they appreciate how their annual donations are maximized for the greatest impact, given the organization’s comprehensive understanding of the needs of youths and their families, allowing them to implement meaningful programming.

Sands’ partnership with 100 Black Men Las Vegas is closely aligned with the company’s core mission focused on education and workforce development.
