ATLANTA, GA — Weather officials say storms are ahead in Georgia but not before sunshine gleams on those celebrating the upcoming Easter holiday.
Isolated thunderstorms are expected Monday and Tuesday, but the National Weather Service predicted partly sunny skies on Easter Sunday.
Temperatures could be as high as 85 degrees on Sunday, when church services and brunches will be held to celebrate the Christian holiday.
NWS meteorologist Brett Albright told Patch that temperatures are expected to be 10-14 degrees above normal for this time of year, making metro Atlanta warmer than usual.
He added that the anticipated temperatures are near the record-highs.
A recent NWS graphic showed cities further south could experience temperatures in the 90s this weekend.
Albright encouraged those celebrating Easter to monitor children and older adults during the warm day.
He added that temperatures could be above average for the remainder of April.
This comes as Georgia spent Thursday battling high fire danger risks in dozens of counties.
Low relative humidity and dry vegetation were factors that could have led to rapid fires, the NWS reported.
Albright advised residents not to burn outdoors unless barbecuing on Sunday.
Anyone traveling for Easter may want to be mindful of the storm and tornado threats in the central portion of the U.S.
Areas from Missouri down to Louisiana and Texas could be subject to some moderate storms, AccuWeather reported.
