Alexa Dell and Frédéric Choquette connected in Los Angeles in 2023, during a rooftop drinks event with friends.
“I took my time to feel things out though,” Alexa admits.
What truly brought the couple together was their mutual passion for cycling.
“We started riding together, and that’s how our friendship formed,” she expresses.
About six months later, during a surf competition for a friend’s daughter, Alexa noticed a different side of Frédéric that changed her perspective.
“Watching him be so supportive of the kids in the water was the moment I started to see him differently.
That’s when I decided to give him a true shot.”
Frédéric, however, claims he knew from day one that there was something special about her.
The couple spent a wonderful summer in Malibu, creating a routine of biking to the beach in the afternoons.
On the day Frédéric proposed, there were flowers in Alexa’s bike basket.
“When I asked about them, Fred tried to play it cool, but I knew something was up,” she recalls.
They walked down their typical path to the beach, and that day, Frédéric proposed.
“It wasn’t overly orchestrated—just natural and effortless.
The perfect start to the rest of our lives.”
Alexa and Frédéric exchanged vows in a pristine wedding ceremony held in Kona on the Big Island of Hawaii, on March 29, 2025.
The couple organized an entire weekend of events prior to the wedding so friends and family could immerse themselves in the beauty of the island.
“Hawaii has been a part of my life since childhood, so it felt meaningful to bring everyone into a place that already holds so many memories,” says Alexa, daughter of Michael Dell, the founder and CEO of Dell Technologies.
As lovers of Hawaii, they viewed the wedding as an experience that felt like home, yet new and exciting.
The extended wedding weekend kicked off on Thursday with a relaxed pool party, allowing attendees to settle in.
Later that evening, the couple held a private cocktail hour for reconnection among guests.
On Friday, they fully embraced the island’s culture, hosting a luau that featured traditional performances and a menu rich with local flavors.
For the actual wedding ceremony, Alexa and Frédéric opted for a more minimalistic approach, letting the natural beauty of their surroundings shine through.
Every detail was planned with intent, aiming for a vibe that felt “elevated, yet at ease,” as Alexa describes it.
The ceremony, officiated by a close family friend, transitioned seamlessly into cocktails and dinner.
From the beginning, Alexa and Frédéric had a clear vision for their wedding.
“We wanted it to feel immersive but intuitive,” Alexa shared.
Choosing Hawaii was a natural decision, but they also prioritized creating a setting that was transportive, making it an experience more than just a gathering.
The couple enlisted the assistance of Bash Please for planning and executing the events.
“Mollie, Sunna, and her team helped bring it all to life, making sure the weekend flowed seamlessly,” Alexa states.
“I had a really clear vision for how I wanted everything to feel, and they helped execute it beautifully.
At the same time, we made it a priority to work with local Hawaiian vendors wherever possible.”
Their florist, Ren MacDonald-Balasia of Renko Floral, utilized native materials and traditional techniques.
The wedding menu spotlighted local flavors, and even the smallest details—such as guest gifts—were thoughtfully selected to connect to the setting.
“We didn’t overthink anything—we just focused on making every element feel natural, considered, and completely our own,” Alexa emphasized.
For her wedding wardrobe, Alexa drew inspiration from the weekend itinerary, ensuring each outfit told a story while adapting to the setting.
“I wanted everything I wore to feel woven into the weekend—not just appropriate for the location, but reflective of each moment as the weekend unfolded,” she explains.
Her outfits ranged from playful to sculptural, with some embracing tradition, all tied into the island ambiance and overall energy of the celebration.
At the pool party on Thursday, the bride donned a sheer dress over a blue bikini, adorned with coral and sapphire earrings from Dezso, a gift from Frédéric.
Later that evening for the welcome cocktails, Alexa selected a two-piece set from Francesca Miranda that embodied a beachy bridal aesthetic.
“The flowing silhouette kept it effortless, while the lace detailing added a delicate, romantic touch,” she notes.
She complemented this look with orchid-embellished Manolo Blahnik heels from Sororité Vintage, capturing the essence of the tropical surroundings.
Frédéric opted for a relaxed knit polo from Loro Piana combined with cream trousers from Brunello Cucinelli, completed by suede loafers from Brunello Cucinelli.
“My six-year-old son Lucien coordinated with him in a matching neutral palette,” shares Alexa, adding, “They graciously played along with my request for matching outfits all weekend.
Happy wife, happy life!”
For the luau on Friday night, Alexa showcased two remarkable interpretations of island dressing.
The first look was inspired by a dress from the recent Jean Paul Gaultier couture collection by Ludovic de Saint Sernin.
“Ludovic referenced the iconic Herb Ritts’s photographs of Cindy Crawford on Hawaii’s black sand beaches as inspiration for this look, and that instantly made me see it in a new way,” she reveals.
Kona’s volcanic landscape is striking, and this dress captures that contrast beautifully.
“The sheer beaded design had this fluid, organic feel, mimicking the way sand clings to skin after being in the water.
Each bead was made to look and feel like grains of sand and then embroidered in a pattern for each one to reflect the light in its own way.
It felt like a natural extension of the landscape—special, modern, and completely fitting for the setting even if it was a little over the top.”
