Kicking off the school year, the first day of classes is scheduled for Thursday, September 4, 2025.

Students can expect a structured calendar that accommodates various holidays throughout the year.

Days off are earmarked for significant religious observances such as Good Friday, Yom Kippur, and Eid al-Fitr,

alongside scheduled breaks for winter recess, mid-winter recess, and spring recess, which include Christmas and Passover.

Moreover, this year sees the inclusion of Diwali as an official school holiday.

The calendar also recognizes several public holidays, allowing time off for Italian Heritage Day/Indigenous Peoples’ Day, Election Day, Thanksgiving, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Memorial Day, and Juneteenth.

Alongside academic dates, the calendar details parent-teacher conference days for elementary, middle, and high schools,

ensuring that parents stay engaged in their children’s education.

Here are some key dates outlined for the upcoming 2025-2026 academic year:

**September 2025**

– The school year begins on September 4, 2025.

– Evening Parent-Teacher Conferences for elementary schools and Pre-K Centers take place on September 11.

– Middle schools and D75 schools will host their Evening Parent-Teacher Conferences on September 18.

– The schools will be closed for Rosh Hashanah on September 23 and 24.

– High schools, K–12, and 6–12 schools will hold their Evening Parent-Teacher Conferences on September 25.

**October 2025**

– Schools will close for Yom Kippur on October 2.

– On October 13, schools will observe Italian Heritage/Indigenous Peoples’ Day.

– October 20 marks the celebration of Diwali, when schools will also be closed.

**November 2025**

– Schools will be closed for Election Day on November 4.

– Afternoon and Evening Parent-Teacher Conferences for elementary schools occur on November 6, with early dismissal for students in these schools.

– Veterans Day is observed on November 11, resulting in school closures.

– Parent-Teacher Conferences for middle schools and D75 schools will be held on November 13, with early dismissals.

– June 4 will be a day without school for students due to Anniversary Day/Chancellor’s Conference Day focused on staff development.

– The dates for Regents exams will be determined in June, alongside the observance of Juneteenth on June 19.
