Upcoming Events in Philadelphia’s Jewish Community from June 7-21

The Philadelphia Jewish community is abuzz with several enriching events taking place from June 7 through June 21, catering to a wide range of interests and ages.

Kicking off the events on Sunday, June 8, the Mazzoni Center will host the Third Annual Philadelphia Interfaith Pride Service at 3 p.m. This meaningful gathering promotes love, recognition, understanding, and unity among all individuals, regardless of their affiliation to the queer community. The week continues with a focus on self-care with an event titled “Calm Against the Chaos” hosted by the Chabad of Bucks County on Monday, June 9. From 7:30 to 9 p.m., participants will learn relaxation techniques while enjoying sushi, salads, and wine in a serene environment. Later on the same day, a Zohar Class with Rabbi David Greenstein will take place at Temple Beth Zion-Beth Israel from 8 to 9 p.m. Participants will have the unique opportunity to explore the teachings of the Zohar, a central book of Jewish mysticism, through line-by-line discussions with Rabbi Greenstein and fellow attendees. For book enthusiasts, the Congregations of Shaare Shamayim will host a book club discussion of Fredrik Backman’s popular novel “Bear Town” from 8 to 9:30 p.m. on June 9. On Tuesday, June 10, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Israel Bonds will honor Rabbi Ira Budow from Abrams Hebrew Academy in a ceremony recognizing his life-long commitment to supporting Israel. Later that evening at 6 p.m., the Jewish Learning Venture will celebrate former board president Michael Paul.
