Exciting Events Highlight Portland’s June Lineup

Portland is buzzing with excitement this June as a diverse array of events are set to take place, ranging from delicious food experiences to lively outdoor gatherings.

One of the main attractions is PDX Taco Week, where taco enthusiasts can indulge in $5 creative taco specials from more than 30 different locations throughout the Portland area.

Running until Tuesday, June 10, participants can explore offerings from beloved local spots including Saint Burrito and La Patroncita in Southeast, to Papi Chulo’s in the Pearl, and Fabos Tacos Cart in Beaverton.

For taco lovers eager to find specific locations, a detailed list can be found at theactualportland.com/pdxtacoweek.

In addition to tacos, laughter fills the air at the iconic Kickstand Comedy in the Park.

Reopening this season, this beloved outdoor standup comedy show takes place every Friday evening at Laurelhurst Park, starting at 6:30 PM.

From June 6 through September 5, attendees can enjoy a relaxed atmosphere, where people gather on blankets to savor the beauty of nature while sharing hearty laughs.

The event is free of charge, welcoming anyone in the community to join in the fun.

The celebrations continue with a vibrant sapphic factory: queer joy party on Friday, June 6, at Polaris Hall.

In spirit of Pride Month, this traveling dance party will feature a lineup of favorite tunes from artists like Chappell Roan, Rina Sawayama, and Tegan and Sara.

Each ticket sold contributes to local organizations supporting LGBTQ+ communities, making it an event full of joy and purpose.

Tickets are priced at $21.17, and guests must be 21 or older to attend.

Another major highlight of the month is the Portland Rose Festival Dragon Boat Race, happening this weekend at Tom McCall Waterfront Park.

Celebrated for over three decades, this event brings a lively mix of cultural celebration and thrilling races featuring teams from around the globe in dragon-shaped boats.

With activities like fireworks, carnival rides, and appearances by the adorable Tula-Tu, the Oregon Zoo’s newest baby elephant, the festival provides fun for everyone.

The Dragon Boat Race runs from 8 AM to 5 PM on Saturday and Sunday, June 7 and 8, and entrance is free for attendees.

For those who enjoy a spirited brunch, The Bloody Mary Festival is the perfect way to kick off the weekend.

On Saturday, June 7, from 10 AM to 5:30 PM, attendees can explore exciting offerings from Portland’s favorite restaurants, including Screen Door and Mother’s Bistro.

This festival promises a variety of cocktail concoctions, delicious food pairings, and unique experiences such as temporary tattoos and photo opportunities.

Moreover, festival-goers can participate in the People’s Choice Awards, casting their votes for the Best Bloody Mary in PDX.

Tickets for this event begin at $54.50.

Wrapping up the weekend, the Life Aquatic themed World Oceans Day Ride invites community members to celebrate their love for the ocean.

Scheduled for Sunday, June 8, this thematic bike ride encourages participants to dress in red beanies or blue jumpsuits, reminiscent of the film.

Bikers will embark on an enjoyable 5- to 8-mile ride across Portland’s picturesque waterways while enjoying the sounds of Seu Jorge’s interpretations of David Bowie’s classics.

After the ride, participants are encouraged to cool off by taking a dip in the Willamette, so swimsuits are a must.

With such an exciting lineup, Portland’s June events offer something for everyone, creating lasting memories and a sense of community amidst the fun.
