Ashlee Simpson Ross Set to Headline at Voltaire Over Labor Day Weekend

Ashlee Simpson Ross, the pop-rock icon of the 2000s, is set to bring her dynamic energy and emotional depth to the stage at Voltaire in The Venetian this Labor Day Weekend.

As part of a high-impact engagement, Ross will perform on August 29 and 30, marking a significant return for the artist as she celebrates the upcoming 20th anniversary of her groundbreaking debut album, ‘Autobiography’, in 2024.

Audiences can anticipate renditions of her popular hits, including ‘Pieces of Me’, ‘La La’, and ‘Boyfriend’.

Fans should also keep their fingers crossed, as there might be additional performances beyond Labor Day, according to Michael Gruber, the creator of Voltaire and head of Venetian hospitality and entertainment.

Gruber has expressed enthusiasm for hosting a range of artists, stating, ‘Our goal is these aren’t her only dates…We’re going to have classics like Seth MacFarlane, people like Ashley, and others, and really mix it up.’

MacFarlane is slated to headline a Frank Sinatra revival with a full orchestra over the July 3-5 weekend, and there are plans for more prominent headliners to be announced soon, hinting at exciting holiday plans for fans.

In a statement, Ross expressed her excitement about performing in such an exquisite venue, saying, ‘I’m so excited to take the stage in such a stunning space like Voltaire and have the opportunity to perform up close and personal with my fans.’

Ross, who is the younger sister of Jessica Simpson, aligns her musical style with that of female empowerment artists like Alanis Morissette and Avril Lavigne.

Her debut album, ‘Autobiography’, debuted at the top of the Billboard 200 and sold over 5 million copies globally, with the standout single ‘Pieces of Me’ reaching No. 5 on the charts.

The follow-up album, ‘I am Me’, also debuted at No. 1, continuing Ross’s commercial success with over five million copies sold worldwide.

In addition to her recording career, Ross has made a name for herself in theater, taking on the role of Roxie Hart in both West End and Broadway productions of ‘Chicago’.

However, Ross’s journey has not been without its challenges. She faced a significant setback during a live ‘Saturday Night Live’ performance in October 2004, where a notorious lip-syncing incident nearly derailed her career.

During the performance, Ross encountered technical difficulties while singing, leading her to walk off the stage.

Reflecting on that moment in a February 2024 podcast, she stated, ‘That’s what I would go back and say. The power of my no and the power of me saying absolutely not.’

In other news, the Las Vegas community is mourning the loss of journalist Matt Kelemen, who will be honored on June 14 at Cheapshot, located at 517 Fremont Street.

The event aims to celebrate Kelemen’s life while raising funds in his name for the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Southern Nevada.

Kelemen, who was 56, was found deceased in a crate in Las Vegas on May 20, shortly after his roommate was involved in a high-speed chase and also killed the same day.

A respected journalist for over two decades, Kelemen was most recently a freelancer for Las Vegas Magazine, contributing significantly to the local media landscape.
