Pride Month has officially kicked off in Houston, with a vibrant lineup of activities designed to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community and its allies. The culmination of the festivities will take place on June 28 with the 47th annual Pride Houston Festival & Parade, organized by Pride Houston 365. After a competing nonprofit hosted a separate parade last year, Houston will unite for a single downtown event this time around.
As the month progresses, several notable events are scheduled, offering something for everyone in the community. From festivals to themed parties, the celebration is set to be inclusive and joyful, echoing the spirit of pride.
One of the first major events will be the Brazoria County Pride Festival, running from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 7. This year’s theme, “Love Without Limits,” will be showcased at MacLean Park, featuring music, entertainment, food vendors, and local crafts. Families can also enjoy a kids’ area filled with space-themed activities, making it an excellent outing for all ages.
Later that same day, the Live in Color Pride Bingo event will take place from 5 to 11 p.m., hosted by the First Christian Church in Katy. This unique “drag bingo” event aims to raise funds for the church’s Transparent Closet, a free boutique providing clothes and affirming items to local transgender youth. General admission is priced at $25 per person, with VIP tables available for $400.
On Sunday, June 8, movie enthusiasts are invited to the Houston Cinema Arts Society’s Pride Month Double Feature at the DeLUXE Theatre starting at 4 p.m. Attendees will have the opportunity to watch two impactful films: “Paris Is Burning” (1991) and “I’m Your Venus” (2024), both of which address the challenges faced by the LGBTQ+ community.
The Houston Astros will also step into the festivities with their Pride Night on Tuesday, June 10, starting at 7:10 p.m. Fans attending the home game against the Chicago White Sox can join a pregame happy hour from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Michelob Ultra Club, and special Pride merchandise will be available for fans.
On Friday, June 13, the Houston Dash, the city’s professional women’s soccer team, will host its own Pride Night at Shell Energy Stadium. Fans can expect Pride-themed merchandise and a live DJ performance in the East Club before the match, making it a lively celebration.
Additionally, Bob’s Lounge & Grill will be hosting the Rangeen Night Pride Party from 9 to 11:30 p.m. on June 13. For a general admission fee of $17.85, attendees can enjoy a night filled with dance and celebration.
Also on June 14, Galveston Island Fundraising of Texas (GIFT) will organize its annual Pride Month fundraiser at the Sound Bar from 3 to 7 p.m. The event will showcase local musical talent, food, and festivities, with all proceeds supporting Access Care of Coastal Texas, a nonprofit specializing in HIV/AIDS treatment and prevention.
On Sunday, June 15, a Grand Marshal Reception will be held at Montrose Country Club from 1 to 5 p.m. This gathering will celebrate this year’s grand marshal for the Houston Pride Parade and will include food and a cash bar. Admission is free, although those under 21 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
As June draws to a close, the excitement continues with the popular Rock The Runway fashion show, taking place on Wednesday, June 25, from 7 to 11 p.m. This event, held at Warehouse Live, will highlight LGBTQ designers, models, and artists. The first 100 attendees who RSVP will enjoy free admission, with general admission starting at $13.12. VIP tickets are available for $87.35, offering premium seating and earlier access to a private reception with select models.
The anniversary celebration culminates with the 47th Annual Houston Pride Festival & Parade on Saturday, June 28, which kicks off at 11 a.m. The festival, located at Houston City Hall, will feature live performances, community resources, giveaways, and local vendors. The parade will commence at 7 p.m., following a route that starts at Smith Street near the Houston Public Library and wraps through downtown. This highly anticipated event is free for all to attend.
Mark your calendars for additional Pride celebrations later this year, including exciting events in Galveston in August. Highlights include a Drag Extravaganza at Roberts Lafitte on August 29, a Beach Bash at The Beach Hut and a Neon Party on August 30, and a pool party at Roberts Lafitte on August 31.
Katy will also feature its own Pride Celebration at Typhoon Texas Waterpark on Thursday, October 16, followed by the Families with Pride event at Discover Green on Saturday, October 18, organized by the Greater Houston LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Houston City Council Member Abbie Kamin. These events will further reinforce a sense of community and celebration throughout the year.
