Rapper Silentó Sentenced to 30 Years in Prison Following Plea Deal

A plea agreement has led to the dropping of felony murder charges against rapper Silentó, who has been sentenced to 30 years in prison.

He will receive credit for time already served since February 1, 2021.

Silentó’s legal troubles followed the tragic death of Rooks, whose body was discovered on January 21, 2021, outside a residence in the Panthersville area.

Rooks had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his face and leg, prompting a thorough investigation by local authorities.

Officers were able to collect surveillance video from nearby residents’ security cameras, showing several vehicles speeding away from the scene shortly after at least one gunshot was captured on tape.

During the recent plea hearing, family members from both sides addressed the court.

One family member expressed empathy for everyone involved, stating, “I’m sorry for both sides,” to DeKalb County Superior Court Judge Courtney L. Johnson.

However, Rooks’ relatives expressed discontent with the sentence given to Silentó.

Rooks’ sister articulated her wish for a harsher punishment, emphasizing a desire for justice and accountability, while his brother stated, “We just want justice.”
