CHICAGO — A unique gathering took place Saturday at a baseball stadium instead of a traditional cathedral, as supporters of Pope Leo XIV celebrated the new pope’s Chicago roots. This event was held at Rate Field, the home of the Chicago White Sox, where the pope once attended games as a South Side native known as Robert Francis Prevost.
The nearly three-hour long event served as the inaugural message from the pope to the people of North America, particularly aimed at the younger generation.
