US Women’s National Team to Face Republic of Ireland in International Friendlies

The United States women’s national soccer team is set to compete against the Republic of Ireland in a pair of International Friendlies this week, with the first match scheduled for Thursday, June 26, 2025, at 9 p.m. ET. Fans can catch the action live as the match will be broadcast on various channels and streaming services including TBS, truTV, and Universo.

For those looking to live stream the encounters, options include DirecTV (which offers a free trial), Sling, DAZN, Max, Peacock, and fuboTV (which also has a free trial).

The highly anticipated matches will take place at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colorado, on June 26, before moving to Cincinnati, Ohio, for the second meeting on Sunday, June 29, starting at 3 p.m. ET.

The current U.S. roster brings several new players to the forefront, as head coach Emma Hayes has decided to provide a break for many of her Europe-based athletes. This strategic decision creates an opportunity for a fresh wave of talent to showcase their abilities leading up to the 2027 Women’s World Cup in Brazil.

Midfielder Rose Lavelle is making a long-awaited return to the national team after being sidelined for more than six months due to ankle surgery. She recently resumed play with her club team, Gotham FC, in the National Women’s Soccer League, and her presence is anticipated to boost team dynamics and performance.

In the latest roster, fans will notice the inclusion of first-time call-ups for four players: defenders Jordyn Bugg, Lilly Reale, Izzy Rodriguez, and midfielder Sam Meza. Notably, 18-year-old Jordyn Bugg is the youngest player to be called into this camp. In addition, there are six athletes on the 25-player roster who have yet to make an appearance for the senior national team, indicating a fresh influx of talent ready to make their mark.

Coach Hayes has expressed excitement regarding this unique situation, highlighting that the absence of senior players presents a significant opportunity to assess new talent. “It’s probably the last time I’ll be able to do this in the lead up to qualifying for the World Cup,” Hayes stated during a conference call, emphasizing the importance of this training camp.

Lavelle’s teammates have sorely missed her character and skills on the field over the past months. “We’re incredibly excited to have her back with us for multiple reasons,” said Hayes, reaffirming Lavelle’s exceptional talent and the leadership qualities she brings to the team.

In preparation for the upcoming matches, the U.S. roster consists of a strong lineup segmented into goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders, and forwards. The goalkeeping unit features Angelina Anderson (Angel City), Claudia Dickey (Seattle Reign), and Mandy McGlynn (Utah Royals).

The defenders include Kerry Abello (Orlando Pride), Jordyn Bugg (Seattle Reign), Naomi Girma (Chelsea), Lilly Reale (Gotham FC), Tara McKeown (Washington Spirit), Avery Patterson (Houston Dash), Izzy Rodriguez (Kansas City Current), Emily Sams (Orlando Pride), Emily Sonnett (Gotham FC), and Gisele Thompson (Angel City).

In the midfield, fans can expect to see Croix Bethune (Washington Spirit), Sam Coffey (Portland Thorns), Claire Hutton (Kansas City Current), Rose Lavelle (Gotham FC), Sam Meza (Seattle Reign), and Olivia Moultrie (Portland Thorns).

The forward line will include Lynn Biyendolo (Seattle Reign), Michelle Cooper (Kansas City Current), Yazmeen Ryan (Houston Dash), Emma Sears (Racing Louisville), Ally Sentnor (Utah Royals), and Alyssa Thompson (Angel City).

As the U.S. women’s national team gears up for these crucial friendlies, fans are eager to see how this fresh mix of talent performs on the international stage.
