Diego Luna and Notable Stars Highlight 2025 MLS All-Star Roster

Herriman, Utah / New York – Real Salt Lake’s promising talent Diego Luna has officially been named to the 2025 MLS All-Star roster, joining an elite group that includes global superstar Lionel Messi and several standouts from the United States Men’s National Team.

The announcement was made on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, revealing a total of 26 players selected for this highly anticipated event.

Luna is among 12 players recognized as All-Stars through a voting process that involved fans, players, and media.

At just 21 years old, Luna is the first Real Salt Lake player to receive All-Star recognition in consecutive years since the legendary Nick Rimando did so in the 2014 and 2015 seasons.

Notably, Rimando and Kyle Beckerman both achieved the milestone of being selected in three consecutive All-Star Games, with Will Johnson also receiving selections in the 2013 and 2014 editions.

Currently leading Real Salt Lake in scoring, Luna has eight goals and four assists in the ongoing 2025 season, matching his total goal output from the previous year.

His performance has drawn the attention of USMNT head coach Mauricio Pochettino, notably during the team’s January camp, and he has continued to impress throughout the March Nations League window.

Luna has secured his position as an emotional leader and passionate playmaker during the ongoing Gold Cup, where he and his U.S. teammates are set to face Costa Rica in a quarterfinal match this coming Sunday in Minneapolis.

Depending on the team’s advancement in the tournament, Luna could return to Real Salt Lake for their home game against the Houston Dynamo on Saturday, July 12.

Real Salt Lake is preparing for its next match against Sporting Kansas City, marking the league-leading 11th road game this season before returning to their home venue, America First Field, for a stretch of seven out of eight games from July 5 to August 6.

The 2025 MLS All-Star Game is set to take place on Wednesday, July 23, at 7 p.m. MT, and will feature the MLS All-Stars facing off against a team of All-Stars from Mexico’s top soccer league, LIGA MX.

This matchup represents the first professional All-Star Game in Austin and will be broadcast live on MLS Season Pass via Apple TV in multiple languages, including English, Spanish, and French.

The roster selection combined fan, player, and media votes for 12 of the players, while head coach Nico Estévez from the host club, Austin FC, designated another 12.

MLS Commissioner Don Garber added two additional players to the roster.

The Commissioner’s picks include Patrick Agyemang from Charlotte FC and Hirving ‘Chucky’ Lozano of San Diego FC.

Agyemang has had a breakout season in 2024 and now continues to lead the Charlotte attack, having scored six goals and an assist thus far while making a significant impact on the USMNT.

He is the sole player to participate in all nine USMNT matches in 2025, scoring five goals in his inaugural nine games for the national team.

Lozano, known as the first Designated Player signing for San Diego FC, has swiftly made his mark by scoring five goals and assisting seven in just over a thousand minutes of play.

His impressive run earned him a call-up to the Mexican National Team for the first time in 2025, adding to his long history with the national team, where he has earned 70 caps and has scored 18 goals and 12 assists in all competitions.
