Sammy’s has officially opened its doors, emerging as a new culinary destination in Adair Park, Atlanta, spearheaded by chef Sam Pinner and general manager Jason Furst.
With a commendable background in the restaurant industry, Furst divides his time between Sammy’s and BoccaLupo in Inman Park, a commitment that contributes to Sammy’s limited operating hours of 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays, with breakfast served until 10:30 a.m.
The roots of Furst and Pinner’s partnership trace back to their high school days at Paideia in Druid Hills, where their friendship blossomed into a professional collaboration.
Their journey took a significant turn during the COVID-19 pandemic when they relocated to Bainbridge Island, Washington, and launched a series of pop-up restaurants before returning to Atlanta.
Prior to opening Sammy’s, Furst played a pivotal role at BoccaLupo, where their team secured a Michelin Guide Exceptional Cocktail award in 2023.
At Sammy’s, guests can enjoy a streamlined breakfast menu featuring only two items: a yogurt parfait adorned with granola and fresh fruit, and the Sam I Am sandwich, which includes eggs, cheese, and a choice of either bacon or ham.
For lunch, the menu expands to an array of globally influenced sandwiches. Highlights include a smoked pork Cuban sandwich with mojo mayo, a turkey-avocado-ranch sandwich infused with Mexican flavors, and a vegetarian grilled cheese inspired by India, complete with masala chutney.
Drink offerings at Sammy’s are equally curated, featuring a selection of classic espresso beverages along with chai and matcha options for those who prefer non-coffee alternatives.
Patrons can enhance their drinks with an assortment of house-made syrups, including honey-lemon, strawberry-rhubarb, lavender, brown sugar-vanilla, and mocha.
As part of the vibrant culinary scene at Abrams Fixtures, Braden, along with his partners, envisioned this development as a hub for gastronomy, aimed at becoming a culinary destination. While they didn’t anticipate the overwhelming support from the Adair Park community, they have embraced it wholeheartedly.
Furst has also expressed gratitude for the immediate patronage from local residents during Sammy’s inaugural week.
Although he initially expected the majority of their clientele to be office workers, a diverse mix of locals and commuters has characterized the customer base thus far.
Braden pointed out that the success of the nearby Lee + White District demonstrated a growing demand for additional dining options in the area. Moreover, Abrams Fixtures distinguishes itself with ample free parking and a maintained security presence, setting it apart from other locations such as the Atlanta Beltline.
