A series of events celebrating Pride Month and promoting community engagement are scheduled for June across Dallas.
On Saturday, June 7, the St. Thomas the Apostle Episcopal Church will host ‘Faith vs. Force: How Christianity Itself Helps Us Fight the Serious Threat of Christian Nationalism’ from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. This significant event, featuring notable speakers Dr. Scott MacDougall, Rev. Dr. Natalya Cherry, and Rev. Dr. George Mason, marks the church’s 75th anniversary and the 1,700th anniversary of the Nicene Creed.
Throughout June, various organizations and groups will hold a multitude of events to celebrate inclusivity and community spirit.
For those interested in fostering children, Hope Cottage will host informational meetings for potential foster parents bi-weekly on Saturdays at 10 a.m. and Thursdays at 6 p.m. For more details, interested parties can email Clyde Hemminger at [email protected].
Additionally, music lovers can attend MetroBall 18 on June 6, organized by GDMAF, from 6:30 to 10 p.m. at S4, located at 3911 Cedar Springs Road.
Later that evening, Bar Takeover will hold its Monthly Mixer at Tiki Hut Bar & Grill in Tool at 5:30 p.m.
From June 6-8, Bruce Wood Dance Dallas will present ‘Echoes’ at Moody Performance Hall, offering a cultural experience that marks the conclusion of its 15th anniversary season.
An ongoing exhibition, ‘Badge of Pride: From Silence…to Celebration,’ will also open on June 6 at the Irving Archives and Museum, running through September 28. This exhibit highlights LGBT history.
On Saturday, June 7, the Yeehaw Empress Ball, hosted by the United Court of the Lone Star Empress 50 Trisha Davis, will take place in the Rose Room at S4 starting at 5:30 p.m.
Furthermore, a meet-and-greet with queer authors Robert Stahl and Kerry Shatzer will be held from noon to 3 p.m. at Barnes & Noble at Firewheel Towne Center, showcasing their latest works.
Stephen Michael Shearer will also be at Barnes & Noble in Dallas for a book signing of his new book, ‘Gloria Swanson: Hollywood’s First Glamour Queen,’ from 3-5 p.m.
The Carrollton Pride Festival will be celebrated at the Horizon Unitarian Universalist Church from 11 a.m. on June 7.
Dallas Hope Charities is organizing a community-wide day of action, ‘Safe Place Canvassing,’ in coordination with the Dallas PD’s LGBTQ Liaison Unit, aimed at expanding the Safe Place Program across the DFW area. This event will occur from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., followed by an after-party.
For comedy enthusiasts, gay comedian Jeff Klein will perform at 5 p.m. at the Dallas Comedy Club on June 7, along with other comedians.
On June 8, The Statler Dallas will host ‘The Rainbow Riviera,’ a themed Pride event by the rooftop pool, starting at 2 p.m.
Sports fans can look forward to the Breakthrough TID Golf Tournament on June 9 at Stonebriar Golf Club, hosted by former Dallas Cowboys and Hall of Fame members Cliff Harris and DeMarcus Ware. This event aims to raise funds for Type 1 Diabetes research.
Educational programming will take center stage on June 10 with ‘Crucial Conversations: Challenging Anti-Semitism’ at the Dallas Holocaust and Human Rights Museum.
On June 11, comedienne Pam Ann will deliver her entertaining show ‘Pam Ann Does Dallas Pride’ at S4’s Rose Room from 7 p.m.
A few days later, Dogs Matter will celebrate its 10-year legacy with a Tails of Triumph event on June 12 at VOUV.
Also on June 12, ASD will recognize Founders’ Day, celebrating its legacy from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
LION-T will host a Pride Month Happy Hour on June 12 at FIZZ, providing an opportunity for networking and support from 6-8 p.m.
June 13 marks the Gay Pride Shabbat at Congregation Beth El Binah, featuring Rabbi Denise Eger as the speaker.
Dallas Theatre Center will present ‘Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’ from June 13 through July 20.
Moving forward to June 14 and 15, the anticipated Dallas Pride events at Fair Park will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
As part of the festivities, ‘STRUT Dallas Pride Tea Dance’ will take place from 2-9 p.m. at Round-Up Saloon featuring Raja from ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race.’
Meanwhile, comedian Paula Poundstone will perform live at the Eisemann Center on June 14 at 8 p.m.
The Dallas Arboretum’s Fathers Day Event takes place on June 14-15, hosted by the Classic Chassis Car Club.
On June 17, the Stonewall Democrats will convene for their general meeting at S4.
Meow Wolf will host ‘Adulti-Verse: Pride Nights’ for guests over 21 on June 19.
Furthermore, Dallas Southern Pride will celebrate Juneteenth with a unity weekend from June 19-22.
Highlighting the month, the Dallas Arts District Pride Block Party is scheduled for June 20 from 6 p.m. to midnight, culminating with the Pride Night at the Dallas Symphony Orchestra on the same evening.
Resource Center’s Gaybingo event will see a return on June 21 at S4, promising a fun experience for all attendees up to 9 p.m.
The following days will feature the Rose City Pride event on June 21, and Grayson County Pride Festival at Sherman Municipal Grounds, each offering a platform for community celebration.
Additionally, the NOH8 Campaign will have an open photo shoot in Irving on June 21 from 2 to 4 p.m.
NAMI North Texas is hosting ‘Thrive With Pride,’ an event focusing on mental well-being in the LGBT community on June 21.
Families can enjoy a Rainbow Rhythms: Family Pride Night at Meow Wolf on June 27.
On June 27, the North Texas LGBT Chamber of Commerce will hold the Pride In Business Awards ceremony from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Renaissance Dallas Hotel.
July kicks off with the Cedar Springs Wine Walk on July 3, followed by ‘Golden Girls’ at Art Centre Theatre from July 7-20.
Stonewall Democrats will reconvene for their monthly meeting on July 15, with another exciting Gaybingo event set for July 19.
As the summer continues, enthusiasts can look forward to the Cedar Springs Wine Walk on August 7 and the Turtle Creek Chorale’s production of ‘Guys & Dolls’ from August 15-17.
