71-Year-Old Man Killed in Hit-and-Run in Downtown Atlanta

A tragic hit-and-run incident took place in downtown Atlanta, resulting in the death of a 71-year-old man known as TC Crabtree. He was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after the collision, which occurred around 6:26 a.m. near the intersection of Peachtree and Baker streets, an area famous for its proximity to the Carnegie Library Monument and the Hyatt Regency Atlanta.

Family and friends remember TC as a person of faith, love, and unwavering dedication, stating in his obituary that his legacy will continue through the lives he touched.

Law enforcement identified the suspect involved in the crash as a woman named Taylor, who now faces serious charges. Court documents indicate she is currently being held in the Fulton County jail without bond, and no attorney has been listed for her.

According to investigators from the Atlanta police, Taylor was driving her 2013 black Nissan Altima at a high rate of speed when the incident occurred. At the time of the collision, TC was reportedly in the middle of the road and approximately 10 feet away from a marked crosswalk.

Witness statements reveal that despite the traffic light being green at the Peachtree Street intersection, Taylor failed to slow down and continued driving, leading to the tragic fatality.

The police report states that the collision caused notable damage to the left front bumper of Taylor’s vehicle, knocking off her driver-side mirror. Following the crash, she allegedly fled toward the Downtown Connector, continuing her journey north into Cobb County.

In a sequence of events within the next ten minutes, Taylor was involved in another hit-and-run incident on I-75, nearly 20 miles from the first collision. According to Cobb Magistrate Court records, she collided with a Ford F-150, making contact with the truck’s right-side bumper and causing it to spin and hit a guardrail.

It remains unclear whether the driver of the truck sustained any injuries from the incident.

After traveling for about three miles on the interstate, Taylor exited at Ernest Barrett Parkway, parking her damaged vehicle at a nearby Shell gas station. When Cobb police located her, she was sitting in her disabled car, accompanied by an open bottle of Jose Cuervo Tequila found on the passenger seat, as well as a small amount of marijuana and two ecstasy pills, as detailed in her arrest warrant.

Taylor acknowledged the first collision, stating to Cobb police that she had been hit twice by an unknown vehicle while driving home from work. Within an hour after the second crash, she was taken into custody on multiple charges, including DUI, failure to stop or render aid, felony drug possession, and having an open container in her vehicle. She was later released on a $6,500 bond.

Just over three weeks after the incident, police learned that Taylor was back at work in the same establishment, Candyland strip club. Officers arrested her on the hit-and-run charges as she exited the building.

TC Crabtree’s family recently held a visitation and plans to host a memorial service at an unspecified date in the future to honor his memory.
