Additionally, the Kumeyaay Visual Storytelling Project opens at the La Jolla Historical Society on June 13, immersing visitors in graphic novels steeped in historical and cultural insights. The exhibition presents works by Ethan Banegas, Michael Connolly Miskwish, Lorraine Orosco, and Stanley Rodriguez, further embellished with illustrations by John Swogger. The exhibition runs until August 31.
For those with an interest in textiles, the San Diego Craft Collective will host Fiber Fest from June 13-15, which centers on sustainability and fiber arts. The festival, featuring live sheep shearing, offers various demonstrations such as wool processing, spinning, weaving, and much more. Workshops and opportunities to mingle with fellow fiber enthusiasts will also be available.
Moreover, ‘Embracing the Mystery’ will reveal works from Palomar College’s Media Arts Professional Practices program at the California Center for the Arts Escondido. This student-curated exhibition highlights 42 artistic pieces that engage with profound existential questions through photography, video, and drawing. The opening reception on June 13 includes live DJ sets and a performance from the band No Avail.
Art lovers can also have a final opportunity to explore the group exhibition “Border Craft” at UC San Diego’s Mandeville Art Gallery, which closes on June 15.
