Claudia Alvarenga Espana, a mother of four from Northern Virginia, is set to appear in court on Tuesday as she fights to remain in the United States after a sudden detention and deportation ordeal.
Two weeks ago, Alvarenga Espana was actively caring for her children and working at the Georgetown South Community Center in Manassas when she was unexpectedly taken from her home.
Her husband reached out to Meg Carroll, the community center manager, with the distressing news: “She’s been detained. She wanted me to call you and tell you that she wouldn’t be at work today but that she’d be back as soon as she could.
