Daringer to Launch ‘For the Record’ Series at The Black Box in Denver

Respected producer Daringer, known for his work with Westside Gunn, Benny the Butcher, and Conway the Machine, will be bringing his unique sound to The Black Box next Thursday, June 26, for the launch of a new collaborative series called ‘For the Record.’

This series is the brainchild of the music, cannabis, and lifestyle publication GetEmHigh, in partnership with The Black Box, designed to celebrate the artistry of sample-based hip hop producers such as DJ Premier, Madlib, J Dilla, and The Alchemist.

Daringer’s selection as the inaugural artist for the series was intentional, as he has played a pivotal role in evolving the sound of modern rap through his extensive catalogue and innovative approach to production.

Nick Torres, co-founder of GetEmHigh and event curator for ‘For the Record,’ expressed his admiration for Daringer, stating, “He’s not only transformed old records into new music, he’s reshaped the genre and changed the lives of the artists he works with. They’ve had massive success.”

Torres highlighted Daringer’s influence over the past decade, particularly in revitalizing boom bap and sampling alongside the distinct Griselda sound.

In addition to his production work, Daringer has also served as Action Bronson’s tour DJ, showcasing his versatility in the hip hop community.

This collaboration is not the first between Torres and The Black Box; he has organized several successful events at the venue over the past five years, including memorable performances with the legendary duo Blu and Exile.

Reflecting on his experiences, Torres recalled feeling inspired during a recent Blu performance, and it was from this moment that ‘For the Record’ was conceived.

“The Box wants to do hip hop. How can I do something that aligns with what they’re already doing?” Torres questioned, emphasizing that the series aims to reflect The Black Box’s commitment to the hip hop genre while celebrating the contributions of DJs and producers who often work behind the scenes.

The inaugural event is set to feature local multi-hyphenate KNDRX as the official host, who will not only guide the evening but also perform multiple sets throughout the night.

Audiences can anticipate a special guest appearance, adding an element of surprise to what promises to be an electrifying evening.

For Torres, ‘For the Record’ transcends the typical concert experience; it serves as a tribute to the hip hop culture and the creative minds that drive it forward.

He stated, “The reason I love hip hop is that people are making something out of nothing; there’s a transformative nature to it.”

Fans can be part of this celebration by attending Daringer’s performance at The Black Box on June 26.

Doors will open at 9 p.m., and tickets are available for $30.
