Justin Lai, an educational technologist at La Pietra – Hawai’i School for Girls, views AI as a significant ally for teachers and students alike. He highlights its ability to foster creativity, bridge knowledge gaps, and help organize complex information.
La Pietra utilizes AI to support students in generating ideas and creating content, providing personalized academic assistance, and aiding in the organization of intricate data. Students are employing AI to brainstorm, translate complicated concepts, and manage extensive research projects, while educators are starting to integrate course materials into AI platforms to create tailored and interactive learning experiences.
Despite the benefits, Lai points out the challenges posed by the rapid pace of AI’s development. Given that many students use AI tools at home outside the regulations of school policies, he advocates for open communication within the community to adapt to this new learning environment.
