Nationwide Protests Planned Against Trump Administration on April 19

The anger against Donald Trump and Elon Musk is mounting in the United States. After the successful ‘Hands Off’ protest, anti-Trump groups have planned another protest.

The 50501 group, which stands for “50 protests in 50 states, 1 movement,” is planning simultaneous demonstrations across all 50 states on April 19.

On April 19, another grassroots, widespread action against the Donald Trump administration has been planned. After ‘Hands Off’ rally, similar protests have been planned in 50 US states to denounce President Trump.

Anti-Trump groups, including the 50501 movement, are organising nationwide protests this Saturday, targeting 11 million participants. The protests are in response to Trump’s policies, which these groups argue undermine the democracy of the United States and negatively impact marginalised communities.

In Chicago, the protest is called “The People’s Protest: Joy as Resistance,” reported Axios. Another grassroots action against the Trump administration is planned nationwide on Saturday, including in Daley Plaza downtown.

Progressive Lakeshore People will host an anti-Donald Trump demonstration from noon to 1:30 p.m. April 19 at Washington Park, 1115 Washington St, according to the Herald Times. The event is free and open to the public. Other protests are planned for Buffalo Grove, Des Plaines, Arlington Heights, Schaumburg, Lisle, and Barrington.

The peaceful protest at Washington Park will feature singing, chants, and short talks from community leaders. Co-organizer Jill Iverson stated they plan to continue hosting rallies in the coming weeks and months.

Taking cue from the recent protests, the 50501 Movement has urged Americans to become one another’s social safety net, especially as current policies increasingly impact marginalized communities.

The 50501 Movement, meaning 50 protests, 50 states, 1 movement, is pushing back against what it called executive overreach from the Trump administration. Its organizing started on Reddit.

“Our movement shows the world that the American working class will not sit idly by as plutocrats rip apart their democratic institutions and civil liberties while undermining the rule of law,” the movement’s website stated.

After the successful ‘Hands Off’ rally organized in various US cities, more than 400 events are scheduled nationwide for April 19, including rallies, protests, nature cleanups, and food drives. It could also include community actions like donation drives, clothing swaps, or meetings to discuss future action.

The first 50501 protests were held on February 5, described as “a decentralized rapid response to the anti-democratic and illegal actions of the Trump administration and its plutocratic allies,” according to its website.

Millions of people across the country protested during the Hands Off! movement on April 5. They took to the streets, state capitals, federal buildings, congressional offices, and city centers.

In just days, grassroots organizers—without any budget, centralized structure, or official backing—pulled off over 80 peaceful protests in all 50 states, as noted on the movement’s website.

The backlash against the Trump administration has also targeted Elon Musk’s involvement in the government and his sweeping cuts across the federal bureaucracy via DOGE.

With widespread discontent brewing among various communities, the upcoming protests signify a continued commitment to challenging policies perceived as harmful. As the date approaches, heightened enthusiasm and mobilization efforts suggest the potential for a substantial turnout across the nation on April 19.
