Fremont East Hosts Electronic Music Spectacle ‘Feed The Block’

Fremont East recently transformed into a bustling celebration of music and community with the arrival of ‘Feed The Block’, an electrifying free event that attracted around 3,000 attendees to the intersection of Fremont and 6th Street in the Fremont East Entertainment District.

Organized by Wynn Nightlife and Corner Bar Management, the party boasted headlining DJ Gryffin as its main attraction. Interest was clearly high, with organizers reporting over 10,000 requests for tickets in the two weeks leading up to the event.

Gryffin, known offstage as Dan Griffith, is a familiar face at Wynn’s XS Nightclub and Encore Beach Club, though he doesn’t often perform in downtown Las Vegas. In a pre-show conversation, he expressed excitement about the opportunity to engage with local fans.

“This is a different kind of show,” Gryffin remarked, emphasizing the chance to play for the locals, a desire he has long held.

The DJ took center stage atop the Forest House Art Car, showcasing a mix of his popular tracks and new releases from his upcoming 2024 album, “Pulse.” His setlist included favorites like “All You Need to Know” and previews of upcoming collaborations, highlighting his versatility and connection to his audience.

Following this successful performance, Gryffin is set to return to XS Nightclub on Friday night and will also headline Encore Beach Club this June, demonstrating his continued affiliation with Wynn Nightlife.

Ryan Jones, Vice President of Wynn Nightlife, indicated that hosting such events helps to foster goodwill and broaden exposure for the Wynn brand. He explained, “This gives them a glimpse into what we do,” suggesting that the initiative aims to introduce potential new patrons to the luxury experience offered by Wynn.

While it’s unclear if loyal patrons from XS and Encore Beach Club ventured out to Fremont East on a Thursday night, Jones noted that any overlap in audience would be a bonus.

Plans are already underway for future iterations of the no-cover mini-festival. Both Jones and Ryan Doherty, founder of Corner Bar Management, expressed a desire to make this event a more frequent occurrence, citing the strong positive response from attendees.

“I think we’ll do it more frequently than annually, the response we’re seeing is so strong,” Jones stated, leaving the door open for additional events in the future as long as the conditions align.

In a coinciding event, “Wrestlemania After Dark” took over LIV Nightclub at Fontainebleau, presenting a dynamic nightlife spectacle. The evening featured WWE icons Charlotte Flair and Rey Mysterio, who energized the crowd and celebrated the launch of this new after-dark series on the Strip.

Flair, who will face Tiffany Stratton at Wrestlemania 41, elicited enthusiastic reactions from the audience, merging the pop culture of wrestling with that of electronic music. Alongside headliners Valentino Kahn and DJ Irie, attendees were treated to a high-energy atmosphere complete with dynamic visuals and lively performances.

As the party continues through the weekend, DJ Arie is set to return, followed by Machine Gun Kelly making his debut at the event, promising even more excitement.

In other nightlife news, the B-52s recently faced a setback as Cindy Wilson was sidelined by the flu, leading to the cancellation of their Wednesday show at The Venetian Theatre. However, Kate Pierson reassured fans that the band would resume their performances through to Saturday’s finale.

In a unique promotion, Penn & Teller enjoyed a ride on the Goodyear Blimp, celebrating not only its 100th anniversary but also marking the duo’s own milestone of 50 years in magic. This collaboration highlighted the intersection of classic Americana and Las Vegas entertainment.

Among the thriving shows in Sin City is ‘Rouge’ at The Strat Showroom, which is set to celebrate its third anniversary next month. Despite the competitive landscape, the adult-comedy revue continues to draw audiences with its witty performances and engaging production values.

Interestingly, ‘Rouge’ has spun off into international productions, with ‘Vegas Rouge’ recently opening in Berlin.

Lastly, the Red Rock Resort celebrated its 19th birthday, originally debuting with Zowie Bowie as its first act. The legacy of entertainment continues, featuring local favorites like the popular cover band Velvet Elvis, who will be performing at Rocks Lounge on Saturday night with no cover charge, providing an open dance floor for those looking to enjoy the vibrant Vegas nightlife.
