Exciting Lineup of Urbanist Events Coming to Seattle and Eastside in June

As May comes to a close, The Urbanist is preparing for several engaging events that promote community involvement and urban awareness in Seattle and its suburbs.

On May 31, participants can join the Seattle Bagel Bike Ride, a fun ride that combines the joy of cycling with a taste for different bagels.

Riders are encouraged to bring their favorite toppings, such as lox and cream cheese, while enjoying a beginner-friendly route perfect for all biking enthusiasts.

The ride begins at 10 AM outside Chophouse Row, located at 1424 11th Ave in Seattle, WA.

Accessibility to the event is facilitated by various transit options, including the 1 Line (Capitol Hill Station) and several bus routes.

Those interested in joining the ride are encouraged to RSVP as soon as possible.

Following the bike adventure, The Urbanist will host a significant candidate forum on June 4, organized by the Move All Seattle Sustainably (MASS) Coalition.

This forum will provide attendees with the opportunity to hear directly from candidates vying for key positions in Seattle’s political landscape, including the Mayor and City Council positions.

The event, centered on crucial topics of housing and transportation that impact Seattle residents, begins at 6 PM, with District 2 City Council candidates taking the stage first, followed by Citywide Council candidates at 6:45 PM.

Set to occur at the Centilia Cultural Center, located at 1660 S Roberto Maestas Festival St, this forum might extend until 8:30 PM, promising a thorough discussion on pressing urban issues.

With various transit options available, including the 1 Line (Beacon Hill) and Routes 36 and 60, it will be easier for locals to attend and engage in dialogue that shapes the future of Seattle.

Later in June, The Urbanist invites everyone to partake in its Eastside Garden Party on June 8, a fundraiser designed to celebrate the increased focus on Eastside coverage by The Urbanist.

This garden party will feature an evening of food, drinks, and the chance to connect with local changemakers passionate about creating a more sustainable and equitable Puget Sound region.

Scheduled from 5 PM to 7 PM in a private South Bellevue garden, guests will have space to mingle and listen to a brief program featuring members of The Urbanist’s publishing team and local elected officials.

Participants will gain insights into how The Urbanist’s reporting influences local policies and drives progress throughout the region.

For those wishing to socialize closer to home before the main events, The Urbanist is also hosting an Urbanist Social in Redmond on May 29.

This gathering will provide an opportunity to engage with Eastside Urbanism, a group focused on advocating for urbanist ideas in local politics.

The social will take place at Jack Sprat Cafe at Verde Esterra Park from 6 PM to 8 PM, and attendees can expect to discuss various topics related to urbanism while building community ties.

In the same vein, another Urbanist Social will occur on the same date in Mountlake Terrace.

Scheduled for 7 PM to 9 PM at Hemlock State Brewing, this event offers a platform for networking and discussing urban issues with fellow urbanists from the North Sound.

Transit access to Hemlock State Brewing includes the 1 Line (Mountlake Terrace Station) and several bus routes, ensuring that everyone can partake in this evening of community connection.

Additionally, The Urbanist encourages participation in partner events hosted by local organizations.

On May 30, Urbanist Shoreline invites bike enthusiasts to a community ride to Woodinville departing from 185th Street Station in Shoreline at 4 PM.

This bike trip will take a leisurely pace, with stops at local attractions such as Swanky Scoop before returning around 7 PM.

Riders can also opt to take transit to join the group mid-journey, making it accessible for all.

Looking further into June, Urbanist Shoreline will host a walk on June 21 that crosses Shoreline, focusing on pedestrian infrastructure and community engagement.

Although the exact route is yet to be determined, participants can expect to walk approximately 8 miles at a leisurely pace, with a beach picnic to top off the day.

These events represent exciting opportunities for community building and urban advocacy in Seattle and its suburbs, encouraging involvement from residents who care about their neighborhoods.

The Urbanist is dedicated to fostering civic connection and ensuring that urbanist voices are heard, paving the way for a more engaged and informed citizenry.
