1072 West Peachtree: Atlanta’s Tallest Skyscraper Project Progressing Rapidly

Construction has begun to reshape Atlanta’s skyline, particularly visible from vantage points along Northside Drive, Howell Mill Road, and lower Buckhead.

The 1072 West Peachtree project, a venture by New York City’s Rockefeller Group, is now well underway and is poised to become the tallest residential and mixed-use building in Atlanta.

This will also make it the fifth tallest building in Atlanta overall.

As of now, construction crews have reached the 18th floor of this 60-story project, suggesting an anticipated completion of about 22 additional stories in the tower, not including the rooftop elements and glass-panel ornamentation.

The new skyscraper has already surpassed the height of the adjacent “Google building,” which forms part of Selig Development’s tri-tower 1105 West Peachtree project, standing at 31 stories.

The tower is being constructed at a pace of roughly one floor per week as summer approaches, reflecting impressive progress since the last Crane Watch update in early May.

Rockefeller Group representatives announced that the building will house over 350 upscale apartments aimed at residents in Midtown.

They expect to reach the top of the tower later this year as construction advances.

Designed by the renowned Atlanta-based architecture firm TVS alongside Brock Hudgins Architects, the project is branded as a “trophy tower.”

The office space, totaling 224,000 square feet, will occupy levels 11 to 18.

Each office space will boast 10-foot finished ceilings, stunning city views across all floors, and adaptable layouts.

Additionally, the design incorporates a large terrace for office tenants on every floor.

Rockefeller officials describe the fitness and spa amenities as unprecedented in the local market.

Leasing for these office spaces is being managed by CBRE.

Occupying an entire acre, the 10th-floor amenity deck is set to feature collaborative lounges, seating areas, and a lawn designed for games and events.

Also, within this 30,000-square-foot indoor amenity zone will be lounges, extensive meeting spaces, and a yoga studio among other features.

Retail spaces within the tower are also in development.

Rockefeller envisions multiple dining options, catering to various needs throughout the day, including coffee spots, quick grab-and-go options, and sit-down restaurants for the block.

Looking ahead, the completion date for the entire building is scheduled for spring 2026, likely coinciding with the global attention Atlanta will receive as it hosts eight FIFA World Cup matches beginning in June.

Once completed, the 1072 West Peachtree will soar to an impressive 749 feet, ensuring its place as Atlanta’s fifth tallest skyscraper and edging out the Westin Peachtree Plaza Hotel for that ranking.

This endeavor marks the first time a high-rise of this height has been constructed in Atlanta since 1992, signaling a significant moment in the city’s architectural landscape.

For a visual update on the construction status, a photo gallery showcases the project’s current state alongside new renderings and context released by Rockefeller in April.
