May Dining Events and New Openings in Atlanta

As spring flourishes, May emerges as a month rich in celebrations and gastronomic experiences. With events like Cinco de Mayo, the Kentucky Derby, and Mother’s Day on the horizon, Atlanta’s dining scene is bustling with special menus, unique dinners, and new restaurant openings.

Throughout May, food enthusiasts can partake in a multitude of events across the metro area. One highlight is ATL Burger Week, taking place from May 5 to May 11. This week-long celebration, curated by Creative Loafing, invites burger fans to indulge in creative, all-beef burger creations at participating restaurants and food trucks for just $12. Diners have the opportunity to vote on their favorite beef burger via social media using the hashtag #atlburgerweek.

Culver’s is set to kick off the month with its 11th annual Scoops of Thanks Day on May 1. Guests can enjoy a scoop of Fresh Frozen Custard for a $1 donation, with proceeds benefiting local FFA chapters through the Thank You Farmers® Project. Special flavor offerings include a one-day-only How Now Brown Cow, combining chocolate custard with root beer and chocolate cake pieces.

On May 4, Firehouse Subs will celebrate International Firefighters’ Day with Touch-the-Truck events at four metro locations, allowing families to explore fire trucks and meet local firefighters. A portion of each purchase will benefit the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation®.

Gunshow is welcoming guest chef Kevin Chrisman of Golden Hour in Asheville for an interactive dinner experience on May 4 as part of its Hired Guns series. This limited seating event offers unique culinary adventures for diners at 8:30 p.m.

Halfway Crooks will host Czech Beer Days throughout May, featuring various events from trivia nights to family days. Additionally, Milton’s Cuisine & Cocktails reintroduces its Garden Dinner Series, starting on May 4, which includes a multi-course dinner paired with wine in a picturesque garden setting.

Nobu Hotel Atlanta is gearing up for the Taste of Nobu East on May 17, an upscale event featuring tasting stations and cocktails designed by famed Chef Nobu Matsuhisa. Looking ahead, TASTE 2025 will benefit Meals On Wheels Atlanta, providing a food and beverage-filled evening on May 30.

As the month unfolds, Cinco de Mayo festivities are uniting the community at various venues. Azotea Cantina will host multiple days of celebration, featuring rooftop events with DJs and limited-edition cocktails.

For those seeking flavor-packed options, restaurants like Boca in Summerhill Atlanta and Bonefish Grill will offer drink specials and authentic Mexican menus from May 3 to May 5. Other establishments, such as Chido & Padre’s, will host lively parties with live music and signature drinks, making it one of the most anticipated weekends of the month.

In addition to Cinco de Mayo, the Kentucky Derby on May 3 will see several venues like Fairway Social and Roaring Social unveil themed cocktails and special events. Guests are encouraged to dress up in their finest Derby attire to partake in contests and enjoy food and drink specials celebrating the occasion.

On Mother’s Day, restaurants across Atlanta are rolling out special menus, including brunch options at Alma Cocina and Double Zero. Several venues offer prix fixe meals that include a variety of dishes designed to honor mothers.

Whataburger honors educators during Teacher Appreciation Week from May 5 to May 9 by offering free breakfast items to teachers with valid IDs. As part of its anniversary celebrations, the restaurant is also providing grants to nominated educators, emphasizing its commitment to supporting local communities.
