As for Waimea, tonight offers a mild climate with partly cloudy skies and isolated showers.

Lows will vary from 61 to 70 degrees near the shore and 52 to 60 degrees near 3000 feet, sustained by east winds blowing at 10 to 15 mph.

Friday night casts a repeating scenario in Puna, with mostly cloudy conditions and scattered showers expected, temperatures the same as before.

Finally, in Waikoloa, the forecast tonight calls for partly cloudy skies with isolated evening showers and haze throughout the night.

Friday evening will maintain partly cloudy skies and haze, with lows remaining consistent with the earlier forecast.

Looking ahead, the forecast calls for strengthening trade winds on Friday, expected to veer to east-southeasterly for the weekend.

Stable atmospheric conditions will mean that windward and mauka showers will be more isolated and brief.

This pattern is anticipated to persist into next week, featuring breezy trade winds with occasional passing showers concentrated on windward and mauka slopes.

An upper-level low near the islands is expected to drift northeast but will influence weather patterns while a second low forms to the west.

A trough in the low to mid levels alongside a strengthening surface high will increase trade winds on Friday for the region.

As this trough shifts further south into the weekend, conditions will border hazier, due to possible VOG or volcanic smog, particularly affecting the eastern side of the state.

In aviation, an AIRMET SIERRA has been issued for SW Big Island, warning of mountain obscuration due to clouds and showers as onshore seabreezes develop.

This phenomenon is anticipated to subside shortly after sunset as land breezes take over.

Overall, visual flight rules (VFR) are expected to dominate the weather pattern, albeit with some clouds and showers presenting lower visibility in certain areas, mostly near Kauai and Oahu.

Marine forecasts predict that high-pressure building north of the islands will strengthen trade wind flow and lead to fresh to strong trade winds by Friday.

By Friday afternoon, wind conditions may reach Small Craft Advisory levels in the typical windier waters near Maui County and the Big Island.

As the high pressure shifts northeast over the weekend, winds may adjust slightly to a southeasterly direction, but Small Craft Advisory levels are expected to persist in wind-prone areas.

A forthcoming front passing to the north of the islands will potentially bring another uptick in winds come early next week.

This scenario could prompt an expansion of advisory areas due to heightened winds across coastal waters.

Surf conditions are predicted to maintain average levels from long-period south-southwest swells through Friday before gradually declining in the weekend.

Meanwhile, overlapping north-northwest swells will sustain surf levels along north and west-facing shores into Friday, though a second swell is set to boost heights above average on Saturday.

Surf levels are expected to drop to seasonal averages by Sunday into early next week.

Finally, east-facing shores should see gradually increasing surf over the weekend extending into early next week due to returning trade winds.
