“I think in some ways we’re the opposite of a sports bar,” stated co-owner Jeremiah Berndt.

Location undoubtedly plays a significant role in drawing guests, but what further distinguishes Bedlam is its inclusive approach to drink offerings.

Matt Moss, the bar manager, emphasized the importance of providing something for everyone.

“We’ve got our PBRs and then we also have our Yamazaki 12 up there,” he explained.

Bedlam’s ethos revolves around catering to an eclectic clientele rather than focusing on a specific demographic.

“I don’t necessarily want every drink on a menu to be smoked and have a flower in it,” he noted.

Jeremiah reflected on the evolution of Bedlam’s identity, stating, “There was constantly a debate about what Bedlam really was, and I don’t think we quite knew what it was until we saw the space.”

This organic approach to defining the bar’s essence has contributed to its welcoming and unique atmosphere amid a competitive scene of specialized bars.

One of Bedlam’s distinctive traditions is the Underberg Club, which celebrates the purchase and consumption of 100 mini-bottles of Underberg, a German herbal digestif.

Jeremiah explained how this initiative grew naturally and has become a hallmark of the pub, with plaques awarded to the first 100 participants.

This organic approach fosters a sense of community and encourages repeat visits from patrons.

In addition to the Underberg Club, Bedlam features seasonal cocktail menus that build on their staples along with a rotating selection of meats, cheeses, and desserts.

The bar also hosts a trivia night every Tuesday at 7:30 p.m., creating a space for both casual visitors and serious quiz enthusiasts to engage with one another.
