Federal Immigration Authorities Arrest Undocumented Immigrants at Atlanta Nail Salon

Federal immigration enforcement officials arrested a dozen undocumented immigrants this week at a nail salon in metro Atlanta, as part of ongoing operations under President Donald Trump’s administration.

The operation, conducted by agents from Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), took place at Luxx Nail Lounge located on Chastain Meadows Parkway NW. The authorities apprehended 12 individuals suspected of working in the United States without the necessary authorization.

In a statement, HSI Atlanta emphasized the serious nature of hiring undocumented workers, stating, “Hiring illegal aliens is a federal crime that undermines fair labor, exploits the vulnerable, and threatens public safety. Employers will be held accountable.”

This enforcement action comes amid a broader crackdown on immigration that has intensified nationwide under the current administration, with Georgia becoming a focal point of these policies.

Earlier this year, President Trump signed the Laken Riley Act, named after a Georgia nursing student who was killed by an undocumented immigrant. This legislation mandates that noncitizens charged with crimes like theft or assault can be detained and potentially deported prior to conviction. Furthermore, it empowers state attorneys general to pursue legal action against the federal government over perceived failures in immigration enforcement.
