ABC7 Chicago Features Easter Candy Trends and Earth Month Celebrations on ‘Windy City Weekend’

On Friday morning’s episode of ‘Windy City Weekend,’ co-host Ryan Chiaverini welcomed ABC7 Chicago meteorologist Tracy Butler, as Val Warner took a break from the show.

The dynamic duo opened the segment with an engaging discussion featuring WLS-AM radio personality Ray Stevens, who joined them as a special guest.

The trio explored various pop culture and lifestyle topics currently making headlines, notably sharing insights on the most popular Easter candy of 2025.

As the show wrapped up this segment, Chiaverini promoted Stevens’ upcoming feature on his show, ‘Military Mondays,’ while also offering viewers a preview of ABC7 Chicago and ESPN’s extensive coverage of the upcoming NFL Draft, set to take place from Thursday through Saturday.

Following this lively chat, actor Guy Nardulli made a guest appearance alongside Chiaverini and Butler.

Best known for his role as ‘Johnny the Zip’ in the hit crime drama ‘Tulsa King’ alongside Sylvester Stallone, Nardulli is a native Chicagoan with a diverse background in film and television over the last two decades, including performances in the beloved soap opera ‘General Hospital,’ which happens to be one of Butler’s favorites.

Having moved back to Chicago last November, Nardulli is eager to engage in more stage work while balancing his commitments to the filming of season three of ‘Tulsa King’ in Atlanta.

In the spirit of Earth Month, Chiaverini and Butler welcomed Melissa Carter, the owner of Kameo Vintage, a boutique located in Winnetka.

Carter discussed her inspiring mission to champion environmental protection through fashion by repurposing used women’s clothing sold at her shop.

She enthralled the audience by showcasing a group of models who displayed her innovative work as a sustainable stylist, highlighting the importance of eco-friendly fashion.

To continue the entertainment segment, the show featured film critic Richard Roeper, who shared his reviews of several recent film releases.

Roeper kicked off with a positive review of ‘Sinners,’ a new movie directed by ‘Black Panther’s’ Ryan Coogler, which stars Michael B. Jordan in a gripping dual role as twin brothers.

Set in 1932, this supernatural horror film sees the brothers escaping a criminal past in Chicago, only to confront a more formidable supernatural evil back in Mississippi.

Transitioning to a negative review, Roeper critiqued the new Netflix series ‘Ransom Canyon,’ starring Josh Duhamel and Minka Kelly, which revolves around a generational feud between three ranching families in a modern-day Western narrative.

Roeper concluded with a positive review of ‘Secret Mall Apartment,’ a captivating documentary about eight Rhode Island artists who secretly built and lived in a hidden apartment inside a shopping mall for four years in the early 2000s.

As the show neared its conclusion, Chiaverini and Butler reminded viewers about an exciting contest offering the chance to win tickets to a special taping of the ‘Tamron Hall’ show, celebrating Mother’s Day.

Scheduled for May 2 in Manhattan, the grand prize winner will receive two VIP tickets, two nights at a top hotel, and a $250 gift card.

Viewers are encouraged to enter the contest on the show’s official website.

The episode closed with an announcement that ‘Windy City Weekend’ will feature a live studio audience for next Friday’s episode on April 25, with free tickets available by emailing the Windy City Weekend staff at [email protected].
